Joomla 1.5.19 released

Joomla 1.5.19 was released yesterday. Those customers on Premier Care have already had the upgrade applied to their site. I would like to remind all other hosting customers that under the guidance of Our Hosting Charter you need to go to http://www.joomla.org/download.html, download the upgrade patch and apply as soon as possible.

Unplanned hosting downtime

At 2am on 15/July we experienced an outage on our server based in London. This turned out to be a serious hardware failure which has now been fixed (2pm). Despite the issue we are still averaging more than 98% uptime for the last 30 days.

Server migration

Over the weekend of 17th - 18th July our server will be moving to new, faster hardware. The move will take place out of business hours and we will experience downtime of 20-30 minutes. A backup plan is in place to bring back the older server straight away should any unforeseen complication arise.

For the unlucky few that have ever had their website hacked and defaced you'll know what a sinking feeling it is to get into work and find a new front page starting back at you.

We recognise (and often, but not always told our clients) that the best way to prevent your website from being hacked in the first place is to keep it up to date with security patches released by Joomla, Wordpress or whoever writes the software which runs your website. We hold our hands up though... we've not always been clear in our explanation of our responsibilities and yours. That's where our hosting charter should help...
